Hairstyles From Hollywood's Heyday Making A Blockbuster Comeback(NAPSI)-The days when Katharine Hepburn, Veronica Lake and Lauren Bacall lit up the silver screen may be long gone, but the glamorous styles of Hollywood's legends are back in a big way. With runways featuring more tailored, dressed-up looks for fall, trendsetting hairstylists are creating complimentary looks. Oribe, hair guru to today's leading starlets and consulting hairstylist to L'Oréal Paris, is heralding the return of chic coifs with a fresh approach that incorporates volume and controlled waves. "This season, hair should look polished, refined and thoroughly feminine to counterpart the classic lines of fashion," he says. "But the advantage to the updated version of the Hollywood hairstyle is that while it's completely elegant, it's more relaxed and easier to achieve than ever before." The long and short of it The hottest length this fall is below the shoulder, in an alluring style inspired by '40s stars like Rita Hayworth. To get the look, Oribe advises growing out bangs so hair is close to one length. "Keep the crown area flat by blowing it straight and add volume and curl to the ends by applying lightweight, yet strong-holding styling products like L'Oréal Studio Line Aqua Gel when hair is wet, and crimping or curling when dry." If your hair is just above the shoulder, an updated 1950s Liz Taylor, Grace Kelly or Ava Gardner look reveals your inner vixen without requiring hours in the salon. Style it with a volumizing mousse applied to damp hair. Style hair off the face, around the ears, and use a curling iron or hot rollers to add body at the ends. "Whether you've gone short to stay cool over the summer or just prefer lighter locks, channel the classic, feminine style of Audrey Hepburn with a longer pixie cut," says Oribe. To style, spray a controlling volumizer like L'Oréal Studio Line Volumatic Root-Lift Spray Gel on wet hair, blow dry and tousle lightly with fingers. "Men with conservative, timeless cuts, a la Gary Cooper or Cary Grant, can modernize their look with a flexible shaping product like L'Oréal's Grab Extreme Stretch Gel," adds Oribe. "Its plastic texture helps give definition for structured styles." From long to short to everything in between, the key to getting Golden Era Hollywood style lies in the palm of your hands.
